Almost anyone who’s turned on a computer with an HDD (Hard Disk Drive), has listened to the hard disk spin up as it turns on. I’ve always wanted to watch a Hard Drive while it spins and that’s exactly what I’m trying to do. It’s pretty simple. I’ll unscrew the top of the drive, cut out a piece of it, and use epoxy to seal a piece of plexiglass to it. The biggest issue is keeping even the smallest piece of dust out of the drive while I’m working on the top. Making a clean room is a bit of a stretch but I’ll eventually figure something out. The drive is old and has nothing of value on it so in the highly likely event that it fails after I swap the cover it won’t be any major loss.
