For the fun of it I thought I’d take some of the old computers my mom and dad had laying around and try putting them together to make a working PC. The bulk of the components are from an old Compaq Presario SR5110NX Desktop. It’s two DVD drives and the floppy disk drive were salvaged from other old machines. The video card was already installed into the machine when I salvaged it, the only thing I can tell until I can get the machine running is that it’s an NVIDIA PCI-E Graphics card. I replaced the motherboard’s old original Coolmaster heatsink with a newer slightly larger one with a wider fan and more fins. Neither are very new and wouldn’t be useful in a computer that has to do any intense computing but I don’t really plan on using it for anything like that. Most likely when I get it all up and running I’ll install Ubuntu and run a Minecraft server off of it for one of my friends.
